Entry Description

Katana is a Japanese Restaurant which, when built, will be located in one of the most prestigious areas in the world facing the Burj Khalifa, Downtown Dubai. The square meter area is about 500 and the estimated budget is around $ 2.7 million.
The interior will be a sensory journey of sight, taste and smell. Upon entering and in your journey through the spaces you will be exposed to the simplistic beauty of different surface textures and visual layering, animated by suspended lotus flowers and delicate bespoke lighting features. Printed metallic screens define various spatial layers which are complimented by floating embroidered sheers that add to the visual dynamic.
The flooring is a play of traditional Japanese tatami patterns that are etched and engraved into a fluid concrete surface carefully harmonized with enlarged stressed solid wood planks. An under lit crystal Zen garden is the center point, where overhead angular geometric and abstracted form creates the layers between the exposed ceiling void. Graffiti commissioned artworks decorate the distressed brick walls of both the Robatayaki, sushi and drinks bar as crystals rain down in suspended animation for a feminine touch adding luxury and refinement. Brass painted shingles tumble across various wall surfaces complimenting the smoked metal bar counter and adding to it the combination of charcoaled carbonized wood and raw trunk red American cedar claddings of the Robatayaki, sushi bar and general table tops, all of which gives a fascinating and ‘rare to see’ combination of Mother Nature’s hard materials.
All in all, an amazing and truly one of a kind restaurant experience is about to be launched in Downtown Dubai and we believe that Katana will be a knockout!
