Entry Description

The FLIR ONE is the first personal thermal imaging device
for the iPhone 5 and 5s, dramatically extending the
limits of human vision to the infrared light spectrum and
unlocking a host of practical applications for the
consumer ranging from home improvement, outdoor
recreation and personal safety.

Available in late spring for $349 (U.S. dollars), the
compact 3.2-oz. attached accessory fits onto the iPhone
displaying a live thermal image of the world right on the
phone’s screen, giving users the ability to see in an array
of conditions including complete darkness, smoke or
dense fog. Using special sensor technology that was
originally developed for military night vision, FLIR ONE
converts heat, which is emitted from every object on
earth, into color images. These color images allow users
to not only see in the dark, but to also observe
differences in temperature of fractions of a degree.

Created to enhance the FLIR ONE device experience, the
FLIR ONE MX APP, which will be available for free at the
Apple app store, provides a simple and intuitive user
interface with a variety of functions that make it easy to
collect and share compelling and useful thermal images.
It can load captured images directly to the camera roll
and allows users to easily share on Facebook, Twitter,
Instagram and other social media channels.

The device houses its own battery source that can power
the devices for two hours of continuous use.

It can measure temperature differences as small as 0.1
degrees Celsius from a range of 0 to 100 degrees
Celsius. It also has a VGA visible camera that blends the
thermal image with the visible light spectrum, creating a
crisp and clear image for the user.
