The in-house creative team within deviantART wanted to represent itself iconographically, much like it had done with all other departments of the company. Being a design group, we built an icon that represents what we do as designers: artistic precision.
The symbolism of an engineer's compass was merged with the symbol of a paintbrush to accomplish this goal, and the resulting mark is bold yet easily recognizable and memorable.
