StarFish Medical has designed a Health Canada certified ventilator in 6 months (normally a multi-year effort). The design was constrained to speed development of a system that is easy to use, manufacture, and accessible to both developed and developing nations alike.
For safe supervision of inexpert users in a pandemic, the ventilator uses a rotary knob and LED interface. The sheet metal enclosure panels require no special tooling.
Ergonomic data and results from user testing were used to define the positioning of key user touchpoints such as the gas ports, push handles, and control panel.
