Balloon Roundtable

Balloon Roundtable is one of the Playground series which contains 4 prototypes based on the Poetic Living research project, the goal is to explore the relationships between humanity and the other creations and the universe.
Balloon Roundtable “plays” with the hidden rules under a harmony surface and "pushes” the boundaries of conventional furniture definition. Thus some fixed elements start to shake and collapse, in this case, a table does not always have fixed legs and it might not be stable depending on the status of the balloons and the control of the users.

Isabelle Zhao Peng is an interior designer with a strong sense of her cultural heritage. This has fueled her interests in the field of modern Chinese culture and inspired her to engage in a quest for how global best practices can be unified with long-existing traditions. Her work has always engendered a unique combination of local insight and style within a global context.
She premises: What is design today and how could this guide people’s lives towards poetic living? She takes this as her long-term research program to explore the possibilities of poetic living in the contemporary society.
