Entry Description

ARIELLE DE PINTO
DESIGNER BIO

Born in 1985, Canadian designer Arielle de Pinto, launched her accessory line upon graduation from Concordia University?s fine arts program in 2007. Traveling across North America that same summer, she hand picked her initial stockists, was a recipient of Gen Art?s ?Fresh Faces of Fashion? designer award and Lucky Magazine accessory designer of the year. Continuing into Europe, she presented at Ideal Berlin and Rendez-Vous Femme the same year.

Arielle now participates regularly at Paris and New York fashion weeks, displaying a growing collection of hand worked silver and vermeil jewelry. Noted for her application of crochet, her self-developed treatment of chain as fiber generates detailed forms with intrinsically structural weight and texture. Maintaining a vital sense of precision, she freely explores techniques culled from her background in other artistic disciplines.

The work holds firm ground within current culture while balancing an inherent sense of indefinable age and transformation. Indifferent to borders between art and fashion, de Pinto continues to develop an additional body of work such as shirts and facemasks.

Since the launch of her first collection, Arielle de Pinto has been carried by notable international stockists including Maria Luisa, HP France, Ron Herman, Reborn, Kokon to Zai, No 6 Store, amongst others.

The 2009 collection contains twenty designs made by hands in Canada from sterling silver and vermeil chain. Her sculptural works continue to tour and exhibit.
