Transfiguring Tradition
Set within the proximity of the local temples, the district was once a fishing village rich in traditional culture. Despite the rapid urbanization in the district, the colourful culture continues to thrive. On the birthday of the deity, the locals celebrate the thanksgiving occasion with colourful street parades, dragon and lion dances and traditional Chinese Opera performances. Inspired by the cultural emblem, the project aims to provide a venue for traditional theatrical and cultural events and to revitalize the harbourfront.
