Hello Wood created a line of unconventional outdoor furniture with smart functions. They reimagined the genre of public furniture and turned them into visually attractive functional installations. The City Snake is a modular structure; its elements are variable to fit the given site. The Fluid Cube is a fixed unit with solar cells swimming between the layers of its glass top. The integrated USB sockets, WiFi hotspot and lighting are all powered by the shock resistant solar panels. The furniture have been installed at 4 educational institutions where they also serve as a community space.
Based in Budapest, Hello Wood specializes in designing and building custom-made, temporary and site-specific public installations mainly made from wood. It started out as an art camp in 2010, and over the years, has grown into a global hub for architects, designers and woodworkers looking to new ways of sharing and producing knowledge. Today they exist both as a creative architecture and design studio and an educational platform for architectural dialogue and experimentation.
