Entry Description

Alcanzo is a communication device for post-natural disasters that relies on bluetooth to create a mesh network between devices. Inspiration came from the recent devastation of Hurricane Maria caused back home in Puerto Rico. It was the longest blackout in U.S. history and nearly 3000 people died. Through user interviews I found that one of the biggest issues was communication. News was more important than ever and many people didn’t have access to this. More importantly, residents had no way of communicating with each other.
