Entry Description

The idea of KADO is to turn a heritage shipyard building into a Japanese culture center with features reminiscent of old Japan. The intent of KADO is to provide a cozy place for people to gather while educating visitors about an important part of Steveston heritage. Through the concept of “impermanence and the extension of nature”, the space brings Japanese architectural elements to create a sense of zen, calm and harmony. Patrons gather here to connect and relax through music, art, tea, and food. KADO creates a unique way to experience centuries of tradition from a bygone era.
