Entry Description

Everyone has experienced the urge to lean back on two legs of a traditional four-legged chair. That’s because a reclining position is naturally more comfortable. The Hammock Chair was designed to embrace the feeling of leaning back a little too far. This is not a rocking chair—it is a falling chair. I designed one single loop to catch the sitter as he/she leans back. It has two stages, sitting upright and leaning back. The chair is composed of two moulded plywood ribbons, which lattice at their intersection. One additional feature is that the design allows for the chairs to be stackable.
