Entry Description

Neil Kane was approached by his 3 year old daughter Ailbhe requesting a tree house. Her brief - "tall, square and yellow (not pink!)". With no suitable trees in their garden he designed a Child's Play Tower; the 1.6x1.6x4.2m stand-alone timber structure was inspired by a local 12th century castle ruin. With a frame of larch wood, a draw-bridge door, a swing underneath, a street sign table and a carpet of autumn leaves. At night it glows yellow. Between the double skin walls she stows treasures; a birds nest, a minion, shells and stones..."like a child's purse full of useless things".
