Entry Description

“Interlude” is a sculpture that functions as a sign for the main lobby of the Forbes Center for the Performing Arts, James Madison University, Harrisonburg, VA.

The Forbes Center is a beautifully designed, state of the art, performing arts facility. The lobby was donated by Judy Strickler in honor of her family. Ms. Strickler envisions the lobby, not as a destination in itself, but a gathering place for those ultimately venturing to one of the many lovely venues. Note the central panel of the piece is at rest as the subsequent panels become increasingly invigorated symbolizing the increased activity, airflow and excitement of visitors moving on toward the many venues.

It is comprised of nine panels 8’ high, etched and molded, ½” thick, Plexiglas. The center panel is 4’ wide with each subsequent panel being ½ of the width with an increased wave formation as they emanate out from the center.
