“Urban Oasis: Integrated Development of Hatirjheel area including Benbari Canal” is a wetland restoration project, which is a vital component to safeguard a large part of the city from flash flood besides bringing back the waterfront legacy once this city endured.

This project encompasses an area of 311 acres with infrastructural and landscape components including, expressway, overpass, lakeside walkways, benches, viewing decks, floating amphitheatre, children park, water park, viaducts, taxi terminals etc.

Major objective of the projects include:
1. Preserving low lying floodplain areas of Hatirjheel
2. Establishing connectivity among major urban mobility corridors
3. Reintroducing water based mode of transportation
4. Integrating north and south part of the city
5. Bringing back the water front legacy by restoration and conservation of environment

Once a symbol of environmental degradation, Hatirjheel now symbolizes a remarkable example of environmental restoration and remains as a source of inspiration for environmental restoration throughout Bangladesh.

Bio

VITTI’ – The Atelier evolved in 1991 as a design studio under the very guidance of subcontinental Master Architect Muzharul Islam. In 1993, the ‘Atelier’ transformed into a limited company ‘VIITI Sthapati Brinda ltd.’ with three young architects Ishtiaque, Ehsan and Iqbal . Currently the team consists of around 100 members and Run by Two directors Ishtiaque and Iqbal.

VITTI’ considers every design project as an opportunity for new experiments that leads to a creative design solution. We consistently purse the following goals in all our efforts: society, environment and value.
