Entry Description

In 2015 TfL supported the Royal British Legion (RBL) with
their annual fund-raising Poppy appeal. The theme
was ‘Live On’ and focused on how service personnel live
their lives after time in the Armed Forces. Inspired by this
theme we designed a series of posters recognising our staff
who served Queen and Country and now serve London in
their daily duties. The enduring image for the campaign
was the dramatic depiction of Poppies against a white
backdrop. The Remembrance Poppy is a powerful emblem
and has been in use since 1921 to commemorate service
personnel who died in War. Working closely with RBL we
developed a series of Poppy artworks which were applied
to London buses and trains, the Poppy message was
displayed on electronic signs at 2,500 bus stops and Poppy
installations greeted visitors at key London stations. The
campaign had a hugely positive impact on fundraising.
