Entry Description

The i5virus video was originally published on YouTube as the starting point for the i5virus mystery game, developed for IBM System i software vendor Bytware, Inc. Shot on location in Tokyo, the video takes viewers along for the ride as two investigators frantically search Tokyo for a key piece of evidence that will put them on the right track in an international cyber-crime investigation.

The evidence is actually an item that directs players to the game site through which they will complete their investigation. The video is the first piece that leads into the overall game. This campaign was launched at an IBM user conference at which the button found at the end of the video was pinned to backpacks that attendees received at check-in.

The ultimate purpose of the video and the game was to raise awareness of security issues pertaining to the use of PHP technology on IBM System i servers.
