Entry Description

The Oli Chandelier (Oli = Traditional Oil lamp in Tamil language) is my interpretation of the Tanjore Art 1000 AD which uses limestone, rubies, emerald and gold. My inspiration was to interpret this art form into modern design and propagate the art into new uncharted areas thereby creating a meaningful and sustainable social impact for the traditional artisans. The chandelier has taken over 400 man-hours to make.

India Modern is my new integrative design thinking that aims to bring the traditional crafts to a wider global audience with modern design aesthetics.

Bio

I am the founder of a boutique interior design firm based in Bangalore India with office in Mumbai as well. I graduated from LS Raheja School of Architecture majoring in Interior Design. During the last decade of practice I have had the opportunity to work with clients who have given me the creative freedom. Since my work is exclusively in the luxury domain, I like to bring the best of traditional crafts and workmanship which India is known for and combine it with modern aesthetics to create one off bespoke custom design.
