The Arcadia Natatorium in Daffin Park, Savannah, Georgia, takes inspiration from the park’s oak trees, whose natural arches inform the design of its long-span structure and columns. Prioritizing the human experience, the project aims to blend functionality with a welcoming environment for both the local community and swimmers. Steel arches and a tension truss system reflect the fluidity and strength of the natural surroundings, while rainwater-catching columns symbolize harmony between nature and innovation. This approach carefully integrates elements of nature, modernity, and heritage.
